The Atlas Complex: An individual who believes they are to care for the world.

I feel like I’ve got to take care of everybody.

I gotta take care of my mum.

I got my job.

I got my 3 kids.

I gotta cook for my family and clean my home.

Some of us can become very easily inflated with this weight of the ‘world on my shoulders’ mentality that we completely disintegrate and lose ourselves.

Meaning we lose ourselves through the process of outwardly looking to help and empower others. While we may have admirable positive intentions for the world, we may be slowly destroying ourselves in the process.

Through the process of looking outward we sometimes neglect looking inward.

How are we to fully empower others if we have not yet empowered ourselves?

We often forget ourselves through the midst of the chaos.

In order to empower others you must fill yourself first.

It is good for the world…

It is good for the world when you eat healthy foods.

It is good for the world when you exercise.

It is good for the world when you harbor positive thoughts.

It is good for the world when you take care of yourself.

Maybe filling our cup first is the most unselfish thing a person can do.

Because you cannot give what you do not have…
