Dear Alexander #035: Selfish Consequences

“It’s better to ask for forgiveness then get permission.”

I can no longer follow this principle.

It is not a smart nor considerate way to live one’s life.

Relying on others to pay me forgiveness for my conscious errors of judgement in an effort to find loopholes to make my life easier is not safe, smart or thoughtful. It’s selfish and doesn’t consider the other person or groups of people that are affected by my decision.

When my decision directly affects other people, over-communicate and ask for permission. What’s the worst that will happen? They will so no? At least you won’t have risked wronging another and committing a selfish error of judgement that lowers your integrity, reputation and character.

Being selfish and inconsiderate is never my intention, but it can be an unintended consequence when I try and find loopholes to my issues and don’t fully communicate. No ease of convenience is worth damaging my character and disrespecting/wronging another. Be better.
